A lot of people come here to find help or see read something on css, etc. But some people ask me where they can get Joomla templates. There are a few great places I know of to get some great Joomla templates.

I'm going to list the places I recommend and know of to get great Joomla templates. This is not a complete resource for every place on the internet but the ones I like the best and those that have great reputations and my thoughts of them.

Template Factories

Rocket Theme —  www.rockettheme.com

RocketTheme I believe is probably the most obvious and popular of all Joomla users. To get the templates you pay for a yearly membership which is fairly cheap at $75 USD. With that you get access to all templates that they've ever made. Just make sure to read the fine print where it tells you, you can't use  more than 3 templates for your yearly membership. I don't know how they would see who's doing what but you can check the rules on their site.  Their templates are nice but in my humble opinion, NOT for professional usage. RocketTheme's templates seem to all be designed by one designer with the same style for each template. Lately I have not been impressed with their design but their template programming is top rate! They also have some good extensions they've written that you can get with a membership.

Compass Design —  www.compassdesigns.net

Compass designs also has some nice Joomla templates. They also have other resources for Joomla such as tutorials, articles, information and add-ons. They don't have nearly as many templates as the other template factories but they do good work and in my opinion, the templates are more professionally usable than that of RocketTheme.com.

Template Plazza —  www.templateplazza.com

Template Plazza is my favorite of all three. They have a lot of great looking templates and specific templates for specific tasks which is different than any other template company I have seen. They have a template for an online store, a music portal, real estate, etc. They also have the most professional designs I have seen. Number one rule for me when using a CMS, is to not have it look like it's using a CMS which can make a design look restrictive. They are not as nearly popular as RocketTheme, but to me, that's a good thing.
